Guidelines & Terms

Last updated 2026. This is a plain-language summary, not a substitute for reading it carefully.

1. The one rule that matters

Never name or otherwise identify an employer, a coworker, a manager, or any other private individual — not in a story, a comment, a bio, or a headline. Describe people by role and situation instead ("my manager," "a mid-size logistics firm"). This is the entire reason LinkedOut is legally and practically survivable as a platform, and it's enforced by both our schema (there is no employer-name field anywhere) and by every user who reports content that slips through.

2. Anonymity is a shared responsibility

We never show your email or real name to anyone else on the platform. But identity can leak through what you write — dates, niche job titles, or specific incidents can be identifying even without a name. Write with that in mind.

3. What gets removed

Content that identifies an employer or private person, harassment, spam, and knowingly false claims. Report anything that crosses these lines using the flag icon — every report is reviewed.

4. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials private. You can change your password or sign out of every device at any time from Settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and posts; this feature is coming soon — contact support in the meantime.

5. No legal advice, no guarantees

LinkedOut is a place to share your own experience. Nothing here is legal advice, and we can't guarantee anonymity against a sufficiently determined and resourced adversary — only that we designed the platform not to leak your identity ourselves.
